The Business Developer works in a small team and reports to the Director of Business Development. He (read also: she) ensures that key projects are implemented on time and the targeted results delivered, in order to contribute to the overall growth and efficiency within the company. In addition, the person will perform analyses and prepare reports regarding market developments, competition and strategic priorities, and coordinates the annual strategic planning cycle.
It is expected that the responsibilities of the Business Developer will continue to expand with the growth of the business. But the Business Developer will also be able to make an impact from the get-go with the following responsibilities:
1. Project Management
You will create plans of action, in conjunction with the business, on the larger strategic initiatives and changes, and follow implementation of action plans, discuss progress amongst key players and report about it. You will translate topics from concept into action for colleagues and teams to speed up progress and ensure actual implementation of changes. In this role you are also responsible for project management of multidisciplinary and complex project teams, and driving decision making.
You will provide insights in the defined strategies and budgets, determine the potential consequences, and report about it. In addition, you will initiate, monitor and check progress on strategic priorities within the company.
You will perform market research and competitive tracking, gather insights and identify opportunities and new business concepts.
You will provide general support (performing analyses, preparing presentations) to CEO and/or CFO on specific projects on an as-needed basis.
Action is one of the largest, fastest growing non-food discount retailers in Europe. It currently has stores in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxemburg, Austria and Poland. In 2017, Action opened their fifth distribution center near Toulouse and the opening of the next distribution centers will not be long. The rapid international expansion of Action brings many challenges and opportunities for the new Business Developer.
